Part of the Reflections collection, Ripple, Aqua began as a freehand drawing. The fluidity of that original line is preserved as it develops into a thin, dimensional form: hand-painted paper applied to birchwood, with a painted edge that emphasizes its thinness and dimensionality.
The form is displayed on a wood-and-steel stand, connected by a visible magnet where it meets the steel wire. The magnetic pull and the small click as it locks into place are part of the piece itself. Because of that connection, the form can turn, shift, or hold still, so the piece continues to change with the light, the shadow, and the angle you view it from.
Like the rest of the Reflections collection, Ripple, Aqua is left open to your own interpretation. What do you see in it?
Materials: Hand-painted paper, birchwood, acrylic paint, magnet, steel, and wood
• Approximately 6" W × 3" D × 10" H
